I receive phone calls and emails from patients and their physicians every single day. One of the most frequent questions I get concerns the relationship between some specific symptoms and Wolfram syndrome. For example, is iron deficiency anemia related to Wolfram syndrome? The answer is no. How about urinary tract infection? The answer is yes because many Wolfram patients have bladder problems. These Wolfram-related symptoms are sometimes treatable, and sometimes not treatable. If we can solve the “upstream” problem (i.e., the root cause of the disease), we can theoretically treat all the “downstream” symptoms. Here is a list of common “Wolfram-related” symptoms. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I am here for you. (urano@dom.wustl.edu or 314-362-8683).
